Swiss Culture Stage

Experience the diversity and vibrancy of Swiss folk culture on the Swiss Culture Stage at the Swiss Open-Air Museum. In the season 2026, Ballenberg’s historical backdrops will be transformed into a stage for Swiss folk culture. The programme includes yodelling, alphorns, brass bands, choirs, folk dancing and accordion music from all over the country. Look forward to a summer full of music, dance and tradition.

The Swiss Culture Stage is located next to the Dwelling from Sachseln OW (711) and is included in the daily admission price.

Swiss Traditional Costume Association (STV) as a partner for the Swiss Culture Stage 2026

With the Ballenberg Swiss Culture Stage we placed even greater emphasis on the diversity and vibrancy of Swiss folk culture during the 2026 summer season and was able to secure the Swiss Traditional Costume Association (STV) as a partner for this year’s programme.

The STV was founded in 1926 and has been committed ever since to the cultivation, preservation and transmission of Swiss traditional costume culture. This year, the STV is celebrating its 100th anniversary.

The STV has been present at Ballenberg for many years with a permanent exhibition of traditional costumes. Since 2008, the Swiss Traditional Costume and Folk Dance Day has also been held at regular intervals at Ballenberg, enjoying great popularity. The STV’s centenary year in 2026 offers the opportunity to continue and expand our successful collaboration. This will be achieved through a programme that not only showcases traditional costume culture but also brings it to life.

On the Ballenberg Swiss Culture Stage, the diversity of Swiss traditional costume, music, dance and song will be brought to life for you, the audience. The STV’s performances on the Ballenberg Swiss Culture Stage will take place from April to November 2026.
